Text: Amos 4:12-13

Introduction
In life, we love to prepare for many things. We are even encouraged to prepare or plan for many things. The saying is true that “he who fails to plan has planned to fail.” But the truth is that not many people are really preparing to meet the Lord. In the vissictites of our preparations, preparing to meet the Lord should be the most important. But unfortunately, only a few people are interested in this most important preparation. When we wake up daily, lifting our hand’s legs and so on, we often forget that it is God that has just renewed our licence and one day, we have to meet Him face-to-face. In our passage today, the people of Israel had gone away from the Lord and His Will for them, and God had used many signals to call them back unto Him, but they refused. Then God sent His prophet to let them know they were bound to meet Him and they should be prepared to meet. Hence, our topic for this message: “PREPARE TO MEET THY GOD.” Two things I will attempt through this message are why you should prepare and how to prepare.

Why The Preparation?
• Because the meeting is inevitable. There are a thousand things we can refrain from doing. Men can refuse to pray; refuse to repent and reform their ways; refuse to make a confession of Christ, but there is one thing they cannot refuse to do—they cannot refuse to meet God. The call of death all must hear and obey. (Eccle. 8:8.)

• Because the time of the meeting is uncertain. But from this text, you may have to meet Him soon. The time is unknown. Delay in other matters is sometimes prudent, but in all that relates to the safety of the soul, the delay is dangerous, and indifference is inimical to the highest well-being of man.

• Because you will have to meet Him alone. We meet in crowds now, but as individuals then. We must all die alone; we must all meet God alone. You cannot hide in the crowd when it is time for each of us to be uniquely created or fashioned by Him. You are created uniquely, and you will have to meet the Lord uniquely. That is why our fingerprints, eye-balls, even DNA are distinctively created.

• Because your preparation determines the outcome of the meeting. How will you meet your Maker, if you neglect the preparation? Lack of preparation will be dangerous.

How To Prepare For The Meeting. If you were given just 24 hours to live more, what changes would you want to make in life?
• Repent – Turn from your sins. There is more to life than worldly pleasure. Repent of your sins today.

• Believe – In the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour (John 3:36). Only then can your name be written in the Book of life. (Rev. 21:27)

• Live Each Day For Him as if it could be your last. Eschew all bitterness and malice. Live for Divinity, live for Humanity. This is how to live for Eternity. Worship and serve God, serve humanity. Don’t leave a good thing you can do today till tomorrow (Ecc.9:10). What is the importance of your belief in God, if it does not affect the way you relate with your fellowmen?

Conclusion
Preparing to meet thy God should not be seen as a voice of terror, but that of love from a loving Father. There are three ways to meet Him. (1) At Death – (Heb. 9:27.)  (2) At the Rapture – (1 Thess. 4:16-18) 3. At the Great White Throne. (Rev. 20:11-15). Whichever way, to be forewarned, is to be forearmed. Remember that He is still thy God, thy Maker, thy Creator. You may reject Him, desert or ignore Him, but He is still thy God. Therefore, you cannot escape Him. He wants to be thy Saviour also. But He must be thy Lord as well. Prepare to meet thy God till the end. Your previous and constant appointments with Him will now make that special meeting a better one. Prepare to meet the Lord. Shalom.
