Purpose and blessing of tithe – Part 1

“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it,” Malachi 3:10.

MALACHI 3:10 gives us some reasons tithe is important to God;

• So That There Will Be Physical Resources In His House
“That there may be food in my house,” (NIV).

It is God’s method to use man who He has given the earth to, to achieve His purpose on earth. This is an honour to man not a weakness to God. He is able to raise stones or anything else to do it (Luke 15:40). But He chooses men as a mark of honour, He chose to use you. I decided many years ago based on my understanding, never to allow the church account to be empty, while I have money in my personal account. God needs food in his house to be used to feed others and I am one to provide it in tithe and giving of my offering.

• He Needs It As A Sign Of Trust From You
When you pay your tithe, it shows you can be trusted with God’s resources. You are dependable to be a channel of distribution. That you are reliable and dependable, so, He can open to you the windows of heaven and you will not abuse it. If you cannot pay tithe on what you have now, you will not pay when it is much.

• It Empowers God To Act On Your Behalf
Your tithe makes him a stakeholder in your business and finances and gives Him the liberty, authority to rebuke the devourer without been accused of undue interference.

“For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the Lord your God giveth you. But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the Lord your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;

Then there shall be a place which the Lord your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the Lord: And ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates; forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you. Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest,” Deuteronomy 12:9-13.

Blessing Of Tithe
It was about few minutes to four o’clock in the morning when I heard the voice of the Lord say to me write, I quickly took my pen by my bed and began to write and He said: “Tithe is not of the Old or New Testament, it is not of me (as a pastor) it is not of the law, it came before the law.”

The following lines are my encounter with the Lord on Saturday, September 12, 2014.

Tithing is one of the covenant requirements that God laid down for His chosen people.

“And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s: it is holy unto the Lord. These are the commandments, which the Lord commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai,” Leviticus 27:30, 34.
