The anger of God

The anger of God can be averted through Christ. “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him” (Romans 5:9). Sin made us be very far from God, but today, the blood of Christ has brought us closer to God. Jesus brought peace and broke down the wall of partition between man and God. Jesus died on the cross to save us from the wrath to come.

Reconciliation with God can prevent His anger. Psalm 103:8 says, “The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.” ‘And he prayed to the LORD, and said, I pray you, O LORD, was not this my saying when I was yet in my country? Therefore, I fled before to Tarshish: for I knew that you are a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repent you of the evil” (Jonah 4:2). If you feel sorry for your evil past and ready to come into the light, the Lord will receive you wholeheartedly. He’s full of kindness, forgiving and will save you from punishment. Rebelling against God’s commandments leads to sorrow and captivity (physical and spiritual). Some are in jail today because they committed fraud at their workplace. Some are in jail because of murder or rape and many more. Sin has both physical and spiritual consequences. Many have lost their glories in the dream because the Lord has left them, due to their wayward lives. Whatever you sow you shall reap. The Lord renders to every man according to his deeds. Those who are unrighteousness and disobey the truth are bound to incur the wrath of God.

Continual provocation can aggravate God’s anger. When you make up your mind not to heed warnings, you may be given a period of grace to change your ways, but when the time elapses, there could be danger. According to Numbers 32:13, the LORD’s anger was kindled against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness for forty years until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the LORD was consumed.

The anger of God is specially reserved for the day of wroth. Jesus is coming back again. Those who die in Christ or are raptured, when the trumpet sounds, will escape God’s wrath. Those who die in sin or miss rapture will experience the full blown-rage of God. “The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hastens greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of devastation and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers. And I will bring distress on men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung. Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD’s wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land” (Zephaniah 1:14-18). Let’s forsake every form of sin and prepare ourselves for the second coming of Christ.
