The credentials of God’s champions – Part 4
Every champion must know what his credentials are, namely: his identity in Christ, he must have the right mindset, the overcomer’s mindset, and he must possess the right attitude and values of a Christ-like champion.
The true identity of God’s champion is knowing who he is in Christ. That is, knowing what his relationship is with Christ and his position in Christ. This is who the Bible says he is in Christ:
He is a new creature in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17).
He is the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2 Cor. 5:21).
He has been healed by the blood of Jesus (1 Peter 2:24).
He has been made rich in Christ Jesus (2 Cor. 8:9).
He is accepted in the beloved (Eph. 1:6).
He is exalted and seated with Christ in the heavenly place (Eph.2: 6).
He is free from the power of sin (Rom. 6:14, 20–22).
He is more than conquerors in Christ (Romans 8:37
He enjoys the fullness of the Godhead in Christ (John 1:16; Col.2: 9-10)
He bears the image of God (Gen.1: 27).
He is chosen by God and is God’s special possession (1 Peter 2:9).
These are mind-blowing realities of who a God’s champion is.
Champions Are Overcomers
A champion must have the mindset of an overcomer. Part of his credentials is that he is filled with the Holy Spirit of God. Gideon was a mighty man of valour, but he did not know it, until the angel of God said to him, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” (Judges
Jesus overcame the devil, and that is why He is a Champion and now. He is sitted at the right hand of God. Champions are overcomers. David earned the title of a champion after he prevailed over Goliath. A champion must have courage like David. In Revelation 12:11, we read about other champions who prevailed. “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death” (Revelation)
God’s champions have the attitude of Christ; the attitude of the lion and the lamb of Judah. “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,”
He possesses and is equipped with the whole armour of God. He must have faith (Hebrews 11; Psalm 27:13-14). He must possess perseverance (Heb.12: 2-3). He must have confidence in what his identity is in Christ (Hebrews 10:35-36; Psalm 34:19). Prayer must be one of his armour as a champion, and he must be full of the Holy Spirit (Job.5:9; Eph.3:20). He must be a man of the word and know how to wield the sword of the Spirit against Satan. Then, he must possess the Christ-like virtue of love, humility and obedience.
