In conclusion to my sharing about the tongue, the previous edition dated July 28, 2019, we were informed that Jesus Christ is calling on you and I who have fallen to come back home, for His hands are wide open to receive whosoever is willing to come boldly thus: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
(Matthew 11: 28-30 NIV).

We have looked at the tongue in diverse ways in the past nine articles and discovered that its usage can make or mar. It has been deduced that words are very powerful and play a major role in our lives. Beloved, let us understand that our destiny depends on the words we release from our mouth. Many may not bother about how or what they say, but at last, the happenings around are traceable to the words spoken. James in the Bible tells us: “We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check” (James 3:2 NIV).

Indeed, it is obvious that we are imperfect beings, who are striving to come to perfection, which can only be achieved by the help of God Almighty. Beloved, that was the reason our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ came to the earth to die for our sake, so as to give us access to that which will make us perfect by His grace and mercy. Humanity was earmarked for destruction by the Almighty God, but Jesus Christ came and mercy prevailed over those who acknowledge Him in their lives. On His cross, when He was crucified, Jesus cried for mercy for humanity, saying: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots” (Luke 23:34 NIV).

Why the tongue? Let me remind us of what Jesus said to the disciples that were following Him about the tongue: “But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matt 12: 36-37 NIV). And secondly, “For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict” (Luke 21:15 NIV)

Beloved, in this period of COVID-19 ravaging the world, who are you linked to? Jesus Christ foretold of the calamity that will befall humanity thus: “Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:3-8 NKJV).

I encourage you to take a decision now and surrender to Jesus Christ in a time like this, to be directed by the Holy Spirit, guided and preserved. He’s the only answer to the troubles of our world. Read John 6 & 14, Agape!!!
