On the third day, Jesus rose again, bearing His Blood into the Holiest of all in Heaven, as an eternal testimony to the sufficiency of the work of the cross for the salvation of mankind. He presented Himself alive by many infallible proofs for the next forty days and He then ascended back to Heaven to begin His mediatorial and intercessory ministry for His Body.

Psalm 24 is a prophetic insight into the events surrounding the ascension of the victorious Christ. “Who may ASCEND into the hill of the Lord?” Or who may stand in His Holy place? (for mediation and intercession)” (Psalm 24:3). Psalm 24:7-10 tells us what happened as Christ returned in triumph and victory to Heaven. An angelic command was given to the gates and the everlasting doors to lift for the King of glory, the Lord strong and mighty in battle to enter. The everlasting gate and doors lifted and the victorious Lord entered to begin a new phase of His ministry. But the devil, though defeated had not yet given up. He followed on the heels of Jesus and sought to gain entry into Heaven. However, Michael and his angels were waiting for him. Rev 12:7 reveals that war broke out in heaven. The war lasted 10 days. Michael and his angels fought against the devil and his angels.

Satan and his angels did not prevail, thanks to the debilitating effect of Jesus bruising the head of serpent (Gen. 3:15) and disarming principalities and powers, making an open show of them triumphing over them in His cross (Col 2:15). It is not surprising that Eph 4:8 says, “when He ascended, He led captivity captive——” No place was found for the fallen angels in heaven any longer. So, the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the devil and Satan. He was cast to the earth and all his angels were cast out with him (Rev 13:9)

Then, a proclamation was made in heaven saying in Rev 12:10-12. “Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now salvation and strength, and the kingdom of our God and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony and they did not love their lives to the death. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe! To the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil is come down to you having great wrath, because he knows he has a short time.”

Oh my God!! What a treasure of revelation is found in the above scripture. A time frame can be assigned to the events described here. Verse 10 says “Now, salvation, and strength and the Kingdom of our God and the power of His Christ have come——” When did this happen? Salvation came on the day of Pentecost!! Remember 3000 souls were saved on that very day.
