The word and prophecy – Part 1
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world. 1 John 2:16
It is increasingly getting difficult for believers to read the Bible or listen to sermons in cars or at home. The advent of the Internet and quick access to infotainment has made it worse and more difficult, as the flesh tends more to stories (gossips, rumours and evil reports about others), information that gratifies the flesh that looks pleasing than to struggle with the Word that goes against the flesh, the will or likes of man. There are many things that are pleasing to the eyes today, such that the eyes are full of seeing and ears are full of hearing and yet not satisfied.
… the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. Ecclesiastes 1:8b
The traits that made Eve and the first man fall have not changed.
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. Genesis 3:6
• Saw (Seeing is still a major problem to spiritual growth)
• It was good for food
• Pleasant to the eyes
• Makes one wise – Quest for knowledge to discredit God, but not quest for God.
She took, ate not alone but gave her husband. Lust has not changed from the tool through which men are distracted and made to derail from God’s Will. It is still a veritable tool in the devil’s hand. It, however, looks normal and right with a man because it pleases the eyes and their carnal longing. Sometimes, we see doing evil (once it is right in your eyes) as ‘The will of God’ or being led by the spirit,’ but you are far from the truth. Many people are doing wrong, living wrong yet think they are right because it agrees with their thoughts, (self-will).
The Will of God is not easy to believe and not comfortable with human nature. So, when you are always right, please check again for Godly counsel. Maybe because of the facts they seem to have, but in the end, the result is a broken relationship, broken home, which destroy children’s lives and business, because such one refuses to consider other opinion or search the scriptures to check if the Spirit that is controlling him is of God.
There is a way, which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 14:12
The Bible warns those that think they stand, so sure of themselves to take heed lest they fall (become victim of their message and self-righteous attitude)
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he falls. 1 Corinthians 10:12.
The backslider often does not know that he or she is far from God. He lives on residual experience, past knowledge, past glory, so he thinks he is always right because he was right yesterday.
The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself. Proverbs 14:14.
