Happy Easter to you all! May the truth brought by the redemptive work of Christ find joyful expression in our families, peace, love, fulfilment and reconciliation in families around the world (Amen). We continue our discourse today on why God created marriage for mankind’s benefit.

The concept of ‘two becoming one in marriage is to demonstrate the inherent possibilities of the new creation species in Christ. The love walk exhibited in marriage is compared to the divine love between Christ and His Bride, the Church. King Solomon affirmed that this kind of love could not be purchased because it is as strong as death; neither can it be bought with anything material.

Biblical models for marriage are living embodiments of God’s unending love, grace and mercy. The institution of marriage originated from God and it is His forever. This is probably a hard pill to swallow by many because of the varying interpretations from the perspectives of culture. But this basic understanding will help us respond to the rising issues in marriages better and couples can see marriage as a partnering privilege with God for His purpose. Your relationship with your spouse in marriage is God’s and He desires for it to be engaged His way and for His purposes (Ephesians 5:21-33).

What gospel is your relationship preaching today? Is it proclaiming the never-ending, ever-patient love of God? What if God actually purposed your marriage for something much more than happily ever after? God’s design for marriage is for couples to be ambassadors of His holy love to a hurting world, but many couples stop short at just being happy and wonder why they may feel unsatisfied. Two becoming one is the number of witness. God designed your romantic and redemptive relationship to be a powerful light in a dark and hurting world. This is your invitation to marriage as God intended: a life-saving, hope-inspiring, and transforming force of His love (Ephesians 2:10).
