BICSI Nigeria challenges ICT stakeholders on infrastructural development
The Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) Nigeria has urged ICT stakeholders to assist on initiating and executing standard infrastructure in the country.
BICSI brought together professionals in the telecoms and ICT industry at the 2016 conference and exhibition with the theme “New Frontier”: Nigerian ICT Infrastructure, Standards, Growth & Development held in Lagos.
The one-day event afforded participants with the opportunity to share experiences on topical issues that border around infrastructural development in the ICT sector.With the requisite support and representation of major stakeholders like the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance & Regulation Agency (LASMIRA) and the Association of Licensed Telecommunication Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), delegates present at this year’s edition had a balanced evaluation of the telecom and ICT industry.
Boye Oyerinde, BICSI Nigeria Country Chair, aside giving an impressive opening remark also hosted a discussion panel with the focus on “Nigerian Telecoms infrastructure/Quality of service (QoS)”.Engr. Fidelis Onah, director of Technical Standard and Network Integrity at the NCC, in one of his remarks, asserts that “The continuous drive for improved infrastructure would aid the growth, development and also bring about an increase in our GDP which is necessary for Nigeria to take her place in the league of ICT savvy nations.”
While Jide Odekunle, director general LASMIRA, added that “BICSI Nigeria has embarked on a timely quest that identifies with Lagos State Government initiative in providing adequate regulations that are germane to the development of ICT practice”.Awards, prizes, and gift items were given out to distinguish personalities and individuals much to the delight of all attendees.
Boye Oyerinde, BICSI Nigeria Country Chair, while thanking all stakeholders for their support in his closing remark stated that “BICSI Nigeria will continue to drive and form a professional opinion for the ICT industry in line with best global practices to yield the much-desired result”.
The 2017 BICSI Nigeria conference and exhibition which will be the third in a row is slated for the 3rd quarter of 2017 in Lagos.
