Suspected Fulani killer-herdsmen have invaded a community in Ogun State, killing three people. It was gathered that the incident happened at Amule Kanji Village via Imeko in Imeko/Afon Local Council of the state.

Balogun of Imeko Isale, Chief Ganiu Akinleye, who confirmed the incident to journalists, yesterday, claimed that the assailants were the gunmen who had attacked Igangan in Oyo State.

The marauding killer-herdsmen were said to have left Igangan, a few kilometres away from Amule Kanji Village and carried out the attack. The victims were identified as Femi Bara, John Taiwo and Tunde Taiwo.

It was further gathered that the victims, who were on a motorcycle coming from Ologede Village, ran into the killer-herdsmen, “who killed them and took away their motorbike.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, claimed the command was not aware of the incident, but promised to get back to our correspondent.

MEANWHILE, a former House of Representatives member, Joseph Akinlaja, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to protect the citizenry and consolidate efforts on proffering solution to the security crises that have bedevilled the nation.

According to him, the President must do everything possible to address the insecurity in the country. He lamented that the Presidency is not taking proactive steps to check the excesses of killer-herdsmen across the country.

Akinlaja said this yesterday, while commissioning a four-kilometre road in Ondo City, headquarters of Ondo West Local Council of Ondo State, adding that the security architecture of the nation needs proper reappraisal.

IN another development, the apex Yoruba Diaspora group, Yoruba One Voice (YOV), yesterday, said it would hold a rally across the six continents to sensitise the world on the clamour for the liberation of Yoruba race.

In a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Omoladun Orolugbagbe, YOV said all arrangements had been concluded to hold the rally on Saturday, June 12, 2021 across 174 countries, including European Union (EU), Asia, South American, North American, Australia and African Union (AU).

The group maintained that now is the time to support the clamour for the secession of Yoruba from Nigeria, adding that Yoruba in the Diaspora are daily worried with the spate of insecurity in Nigeria.

“June 12 has always been an historic day in the annals of Nigeria. It symbolises total freedom from the military rule. It connotes liberation from military jingoism and nothing more. So, we are holding the rally to lend our voices to the growing calls and clamour for the Yoruba nation,” they said.
