Family cries out to police over abducted youth leader

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has been urged to intensify its efforts towards the safe release of Mr. Harrison Aronu by his abductors.

Aronu, the Youth President of Umuezeakwa, Ifite Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, was abducted by unknown persons on July 31, this year.

In a statement yesterday, Aronu’s family said they have been in pain since he was abducted, urging the police authorities to intensify efforts to ensure the safe return of their breadwinner.

A police report of the incident sighted by The Guardian indicated that on the fateful day, Aronu was supervising the community road maintenance being done by the youth when unknown gunmen came with two cars, a Lexus and Toyota Venza, shot sporadically, seized him and took him away.

Aronu’s family stated that since then, they had neither heard from the abductors for payment of ransom nor received any other information.
