The Borno State Police Command has arrested 26 suspects for armed robbery and burglaries, with recovery of stolen household equipment, valuables and livestock estimated at N11.2 million in the last three months in the Maiduguri metropolis.

Among the suspects, 10 were arrested for belonging to an unlawful society and “inciting disturbances” in Gwange Ward of the state capital. The State Commissioner of Police, Demian Chukwu, disclosed this at the weekend, while parading the suspects and stolen property at the Police Headquarters, Maiduguri.

He explained that eight suspects had been terrorising Maiduguri metropolis and rustled 61 sheep and two goats valued at N5.7million. He said the suspects also confessed to nefarious activities of criminal conspiracy, burglary, trespass, and theft.

He warned members of the public, particularly youths, that it is illegal and criminal to form any association unless with the approval of relevant authorities.
