The Kano State Police Command has arrested a notorious thug, Inuwa Zakari, known as “Gundura,” along with 14 other suspects linked to thug-related crimes.
According to the command, these arrests were part of an extensive operation conducted between October 25 and 27, 2024, to reduce criminal activity across the state.
Twenty-four-year-old Gundura has been on the police watchlist for his alleged involvement in a series of violent incidents within Kano’s metropolis.
Gundura faces accusations of attacking a vigilante commander, inflicting serious injuries, including severing the officer’s hand. He is also implicated in vandalising a police vehicle in a separate incident.
In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, explained that the crackdown followed directives from Commissioner of Police Salman Dogo Garba.
The Commissioner had instructed all tactical commanders to step up anti-thuggery efforts, broaden intelligence-gathering operations, and maintain 24-hour patrols to ensure the safety of Kano residents.
