Okediran for three months residence in Morocco
The Institute for Advanced Studies at the University Mohammed 6 Polytechnic (UM6P), Morocco, is set to welcome Dr. Wale Okediran as its newest resident for the next three months.
Okediran is a renowned medical doctor, former member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, and celebrated author of 14 award-winning novels, including Tenants of the House, which was adapted into a motion picture and streamed globally on Netflix.
As the Secretary General of the Pan African Writers Association, Okediran has significantly contributed to African literature, receiving prestigious accolades such as the Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature in Africa and the NLNG Nigerian Literature Prize shortlist. He is also the founder of the Ebedi International Writers Residency, which has hosted over 350 writers from 12 African countries since 2010.
During his residency, Okediran will lead an exciting writing program focusing on travel narratives, collaborating with around twenty participants to explore and craft compelling stories.
With his vast experience in creative writing, public health advocacy, and cultural diplomacy, his time at IAS promises to be an enriching opportunity for the community to engage with storytelling at the intersection of literature and personal journeys.
