The Niger state government has earmarked $2 billion for the establishment of poultry farming in Bosso Local Government Area (LGA) of the state and has asked the people to key in to make them self-reliant.
Governor Muhammad Umaru Bago made this known while interacting with stakeholders in Maikunkele, Bosso LGA, as part of his statewide projects monitoring on Friday, January 17, 2025.
Bago noted that the establishment of the poultry farm is in line with the livestock development initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, with Niger as a pilot state.
While enumerating the numerous ongoing road projects in Bosso, Bago urged the people to continue to rally around his government to enable it to improve the living standard of the citizenry.
He also called on those whose properties are affected by the road construction to show understanding and vacate the properties to speed up the projects, while reassuring them that full compensation will be paid to them.
The governor, who observed the increasing population in Bosso Local Council, hinted that a general hospital will be built to decongest the one in Minna, saying the issue of electricity in Kodo will be looked into with a view to fixing it.

He lauded the senator representing the Niger East Senatorial District, Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, for providing essential amenities to his constituents.
The governor stressed that a mini stadium and skills acquisition center will be constructed by the senator in Bosso LGA and that 20 people from the council will benefit from his scholarship to Singapore.
Bago also commended the member representing Bosso/Paikoro Federal Constituency, Baraje Yusuf Kure, for his support of the developmental projects of the state government.
Earlier, the deputy governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, called for the continuous support of the people of Bosso Local Council and assured them of the commitment of the Bago-led administration in meeting their aspirations.
Niger East Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, in his keynote address, disclosed that Governor Bago has given priority to the people of Bosso, especially in terms of his agricultural policy, as the Special
Agro-industrial Processing Zone, which would create direct and indirect jobs, falls within the council area.
The member representing Bosso/Paikoro Federal Constituency, Baraje Yusuf Kure, said he will support the efforts of the state government with the sum of N1 billion, provide fertilizer and other farm inputs to farmers to improve agricultural productivity.
In their separate remarks, the member representing Bosso at the state assembly, Abubakar Suleiman Gomna, and the chairman of Bosso Local Council, Ladidi Rakiya Bawa Bosso, appreciated the governor for the people-oriented projects in Bosso and beyond.
They, however, appealed for the rehabilitation of Bosso dam for improved water supply, more roads within the local council, a feeder road from Garatu to Beji, and the appointment of two permanent secretaries, among others, and assured him of the continued support of the people of Bosso to his administration.
