A student of Greensprings Secondary School, Lekki, Esther Alabi, has excelled at the first-ever edition of the Spelling Bee in Nigeria (SPIN). The competition, which began with 102 participants from across the country, culminated in a thrilling national final at the United States Consul General’s residence in Ikoyi.
The highly competitive event tested students on complex words of Greek, Latin, French, and Spanish origins, as well as their understanding of etymology and the rules of word formation.
The event, which was both rigorous and intellectually stimulating, gradually narrowed down contestants to 64 for the final round. Alabi won the Vocabulary Award for her exceptional skills in vocabulary acquisition and securing an impressive fourth place overall.
According to Greensprings management, Alabi’s success is a reflection of her dedication and strong academic support received from her teachers and the school community.
“Her performance in the national competition not only highlights individual excellence, but also brings pride to Greensprings School.”
