NAPTIP alerts Nigerians to impostor DG on LinkedIn

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has called the attention of Nigerians to an account impersonating the agency’s Director-General, Binta Adamu Bello.

The agency identified the fake LinkedIn account name as ‘Binta L. Adamu, Director General/CEO at the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP)’.

The agency’s Press Officer, Vincent Okoye, in a statement, noted that the impostor has been luring unsuspecting Nigerians to connect with it on the social media platform with the intention of defrauding them.

“This faceless individual is engaging in deceptive practices by inviting unsuspecting persons, stakeholders, and officers of the agency to connect with this fake account with the ultimate purpose of defrauding them,” Okoye noted.

The press officer counselled Nigerians to ignore communications from the impostor, adding that it does not represent the activities of the agency’s Director-General.

“The official LinkedIn account of the Dg remains unchanged, with informative features, and any requests or invitations to connect should be verified through official NAPTIP communication channels,” Okoye added.

He also advised Nigerians to report suspicious activities associated with the impostor’s account.
