Former governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, was last night granted an administrative bail from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Tambuwal, who was detained on Monday at the headquarters of the commission in Jabi Abuja for alleged withdrawal of some cash to the tune of N189 billion when he held sway as governor, escaped passing the second night with EFCC interrogators.
The former governor had honoured an invitation by the commission at about 11:16 a.m. on Monday but was subsequently taken into custody after reportedly failing to answer questions posed to him
A top official of the commission closed to The Guardian said Tambuwal was granted an administrative bail after interrogators extracted what they needed from him and has left the headquarters of the commission.
EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the development to The Guardian saying: “Yes! Yes!! He has been released after perfecting his bail condition.”
