The Group Managing Director of Amo Group, Dr. Ayoola Oduntan, has donated a 2,000-capacity Model Broiler Poultry Pen Complex to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, in a move aimed at strengthening practical veterinary education, youth empowerment, and sustainable livestock development in Nigeria.

The facility was officially unveiled and commissioned during the Faculty’s Veterinary Oath-Taking and Induction Ceremony.

Dr. Oduntan, an alumnus of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, ABU (Class of 1990), described the donation as a personal commitment to giving back to the institution that shaped his professional journey and values.

The newly commissioned complex, built by Diversay Solutions Ltd., a subsidiary of the Amo Group, is a fully integrated commercial poultry operation. It comprises a 2,000-capacity broiler pen, an administrative office, a borehole to ensure a steady supply of potable water, and an initial stock of 2,000 broiler chicks with feed provided up to market weight. An offtake arrangement has also been incorporated to guarantee sustainability.

According to Oduntan, the project is designed to expose veterinary students to hands-on poultry production, business management, and value-chain operations while still in school.

“This facility will function as a real commercial enterprise. Students will gain practical experience in animal production, management, accountability, and value creation, ensuring graduates leave with the capacity to create income and contribute meaningfully to national development,” he said.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor of ABU, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Raymond Bako, described the donation as timely and impactful, noting that it would significantly strengthen practical training, research, and entrepreneurship within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

In recognition of his contributions to veterinary education, agribusiness development, and national food security, Dr. Oduntan was presented with an Award of Excellence by the faculty.
