The All Stars’ Synergy Cup tournament lived up to expectations as one of the most vibrant and unifying sporting events organised by the Island All Stars Sports Club, Lagos.

The tournament, sponsored by WERBLACK Wines, brought together members, partners, and sports enthusiasts in a celebration of football, friendship, and community spirit.

The sponsorship was championed by the company’s Chairman/CEO, Okechukwu Uche-Ukah, whose passion for sports and social development played a central role in making the competition a reality.

The journey to the tournament began with a colourful unveiling ceremony where the club presented the official logo, mascot, fixtures, and participating teams, marking the final stage of preparations for the historic competition.

The WERBLACK Wines Synergy Cup kicked off at the Lagos Business School Arena, delivering six exciting weekends of football.
Four competitive teams participated in the tournament, including The Beats Electronics, Wiz Clothings, Lugna Properties and Drexel
Apartments.

The opening matches set the tone for the competition, with The Beats Electronics facing Wiz Clothings in the first match of the tournament, followed by Lugna Properties taking on Drexel Apartments later that morning.

Across the six-week competition, players displayed impressive skill, determination, and sportsmanship, while fans and club members turned out each weekend to support their teams.

A major highlight of the tournament was the strong corporate backing provided by WERBLACK Wines, whose sponsorship underscored the company’s dedication to community engagement and social responsibility.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony ahead of the competition, Uche-Ukah explained that his company sponsored the tournament as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives. He emphasised that sports remain one of the most powerful tools for strengthening the mind and spirit while fostering unity within communities.

Uche-Ukah, widely regarded as a strong supporter of sports initiatives, reaffirmed his belief that corporate organisations have a responsibility to support activities that encourage healthy living, friendship, and positive engagement.

The Club’s Director of Sports, Dr Ike Okorafor, also praised the successful organisation of the tournament and the collaboration that made it possible.

According to him, the Synergy Cup was designed to strengthen bonds among members while promoting a culture of fitness and excellence.

He explained that the competition reflected the club’s commitment to building a community where fitness, friendship and excellence thrive together.

Dr Okorafor also described the WERBLACK Wines Synergy Cup as a symbol of collaboration between sports and community values.

“This competition represented teamwork and passion. It showed that sport continues to be one of the strongest tools for unity and positive engagement. We wanted every All-Star club in Nigeria to see this as a standard of organisation and togetherness,” he said.
