The Governing Council of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASFUED) has approved the appointment of Professor Samuel Ekundayo Oladipo as the vice-chancellor of the institution.
He assumes office as the 3rd indigenous and 6th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Nigeria’s premier University of Education.
Professor Oladipo, a distinguished Professor of Social Psychology and a foundation faculty member of TASUED, brings decades of academic excellence, administrative experience, and a strong commitment to value-driven education to the university’s highest office.
Announcing the appointment at the end of the Council meeting held on Tuesday, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Rahamon Adisa Bello, commended Professor Oladipo’s outstanding track record, describing his emergence as a product of merit, resilience, and unwavering dedication to the university’s founding ideals.
Born on June 29, 1969, into the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. Amos Oladipo of Agbaakin Compound, Akinmoorin, Oyo State, Professor Oladipo joined Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE) in 1999. He became a foundation faculty member when the institution was upgraded to TASUED in 2005 and was promoted to the rank of Professor in October 2014.
Prior to his appointment, Professor Oladipo served the university in several key roles, including: Chairman, University Result Vetting Board, Pioneer Director, Directorate of Research and External Relations (DRER)
Pioneer Dean, College of Specialized and Professional Education (COSPED)
Deputy Director, Directorate of Academic Planning, Quality Assurance and Research (DAPQAR)
He has also held a sabbatical appointment at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at North-West University, Mafikeng, South Africa (2013–2015). He is a recipient of the prestigious National Research Fund.
Professor Oladipo has authored over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles, edited 10 academic books, contributed to numerous book chapters, and written more than 15 Christian books. He recently completed a sponsored research project on the development and validation of a psycho-educational counselling intervention programme for survivors of child sexual abuse in Nigeria.
His research interests include spirituality and health, help-seeking behaviour, gender-based violence, child abuse, and psychological scale development.
He is a member of several professional bodies, including the American Psychological Association, the Psychological Association of Nigeria, the Nigeria Social Psychology Association, the Counselling Psychology Association of Nigeria, and the African Scientist Organisation.
His appointment takes effect from May 5, 2026, according to a release on Tuesday by Sunday Oladapo Oke, Registrar and Secretary to Council.
