Partners Interferry to train, mentor 50 ferry professionals
Lagos State Government has said that ensuring the safety of everyone who journeys on its waterways is not just a duty, but also a calling.
Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Blue Economy, Damilola Emmanuel, while speaking yesterday, during the launch of Africa’s first ferry safety development and mentoring programme, in partnership with Interferry, stated that the government is dedicated to creating a safe, efficient, and world-class waterways system for all.
Emmanuel said the 50 participants picked for the training should understand that they bear both great honour and profound responsibility.
In his goodwill message, Samuel Iluyemi commended the partnership that leads to the training of the officers on safety, saying that it has reinforced the position that safety is a key pillar in water transportation.
Also, Kelvin Abba, who represented the National Inland Waterways (NIWA), said that his agency is increasingly proud of witnessing the kick-off of the programme on safety, stating that it is setting a regional benchmark for safety on waterways.
