Surulere stakeholders rally support for Elliot’s re-election

The coalition of supporters, market leaders, elders, widows and youth groups, yesterday, staged a solidarity walk in Surulere, making a plea to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, to allow Olusola Desmond Elliot a fourth term in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The rally was described by observers as a grassroots litmus test designed to showcase Elliot’s contributions to the community.

However, Elliot, while addressing the supporters during a ward rally, said that his re-election bid was a necessity for stability and continued development.

MEANWHILE, an aspirant for the House of Representatives seat for Kosofe Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oluremi Oluwalogbon Odunsi, has pledged to tackle illiteracy, unemployment, and poverty in the constituency if elected.

HOWEVER, residents, under the aegis of Agege Parents Forum, have endorsed the representative of Agege II Constituency in the Lagos House of Assembly, Jubreel Ayodeji Abdulkareem, for a second term in office.

No fewer than 5,000 parents with children in the 72 public elementary and secondary schools, after their yearly general meeting held yesterday at the Agege Stadium, trooped out to appreciate and endorse Abdulkareem for what he has done for their children in the community through various empowerment programmes.

The Zonal Secretary of the Forum, Mrs Balikis Ike, said: “The event is about Abdulkareem in the last four years; he has helped the parents’ forum in so many ways.

She said that the lawmaker had distributed no fewer than 5,600 UTME forms to senior secondary schools and hundreds of GCE forms.

She also said that Abdulkareem’s free skills acquisition programme had prevented senior secondary students from roaming the streets after their secondary education.
