The Ogun State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), have distributed relief items to victims of wind storm in Oke-Agbede, Imoko Afon Local council to cushion effect of the disaster.
Speaking during the distribution exercise that included, rice, beans, garri, roofing sheets nails among others at Trade fair complex, Abeokuta, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Mrs. Funmi Baker, said the government would remain committed to the welfare of its citizens.
Baker, while advising the storm victims to be cautious with naked fire, described the gesture as a worthy initiative by both the State and Federal Government, saying the government would not rest on its oars in fulfilling its electoral promises.
Director, Ogun State Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Soji Durojaiye, stressed that the items must get to the affected victims and must not be truncated along the line.
Also speaking, Coordinator, South West Zone, National Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Kadiri Olanrewaju, said the initiative was meant to improve the lives of the victims, advising them to make judicious use of the items.
The representative of Imeko Afon Local council, Hon Jamiu Yinusa acknowledged both the Federal and State Government for the initiative, promising the items would get to the affected victims.
