PAU, NNPCL hold symposium on energy, environmental communication

As part of efforts aimed at promoting sustainable environmental communication in the country, the Centre for Media and Communication Research (CMCR), Pan-Atlantic University (PAU) in partnership with NNPCL Foundation, will hold a two-day symposium on energy and environmental communication.

Director, Centre for Media and Communication Research School of Media and Communication Pan-Atlantic University Prof. Nelson Okorie disclosed the core objective of the symposium is to promote sustainable environmental communication among critical stakeholders in the six geopolitical zones in the country.

In addition, he said, “in the realm of media studies, Environmental Communication is essential for mitigating issues affecting climate change and environmental health across the globe. Scholars agree that environmental communication is a catalyst for promoting environmental adaptation, conservation, and biodiversity in most modern societies.”

To him, the event is also a Corporate Social Responsibility programme of NNPCL Foundation, which is a platform for critical discourse on importance of energy and environmental communication in the country.

Speaking further, the don said the event would also develop a network of development experts towards achieving the sustainable government goals on environment in the country and the larger world.

The event is scheduled to hold from June 10 to 11, 2026 at the main campus of the Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos.
