Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state has called on Nigerians to continue supporting democratic governance, urging citizens to remain united and committed to strengthening the country’s institutions and democratic ideals.

In a statement issued to commemorate this year’s Democracy Day, the governor described June 12 as a significant date in Nigeria’s political history, symbolizing the resilience, sacrifices, and triumph of the people’s will in the nation’s democratic journey.

Fintiri paid tribute to democracy heroes, both living and deceased, whose struggles and sacrifices helped entrench the democratic system currently being enjoyed across the country. He noted that June 12 serves as a reminder that sovereignty ultimately resides with the people.

The governor said his administration had recorded significant achievements over the past seven years through the provision of infrastructure aimed at improving the economy and enhancing the welfare of residents of Adamawa state.

According to him, the accomplishments of his government demonstrate that democracy can deliver tangible benefits to the people when properly implemented.

“As we mark this year’s Democracy Day, I call for the continued support, patience, and cooperation of all citizens of Adamawa State and Nigeria at large.

With your support, we can consolidate on our gains and provide even more dividends of democracy that will uplift our communities, strengthen our economy, and secure a better future for our children,” he said.

Fintiri also urged Nigerians to work collectively towards sustaining democratic governance and strengthening national institutions, expressing confidence that the country’s current challenges can be overcome through unity and determination.

“The challenges of today cannot and will not overwhelm our great country. We are a people defined by resilience, courage, and hope. If we stand united, Nigeria will emerge stronger,” the governor stated.

He stressed the need for peace, tolerance, patriotism, and collective effort in addressing the challenges of nation-building, adding that democracy requires continuous commitment from both leaders and citizens.

“Democracy is not an event but a process. Let us all play our part to deepen it, protect it, and ensure that it delivers prosperity, justice, and dignity for every Nigerian,” he added.
