The Imole Campaign Council (TICC), which is in charge of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke‘s re-election bid, yesterday, described the recent alleged plot to assassinate the lawmaker representing Obokun Oriade Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Wole Oke, as a hoax.
It also accused the Osun State Commissioner of Police (CP), Ibrahim Gotan, of complicity in the handling of the investigation, alleging that a viral video evidence of the suspects reportedly paraded by the police allegedly exposed false narrative of the incident.
However, the Spokesperson for the TICC, Pelumi Olajengbesi, who spoke during a media briefing in Osogbo, said that the viral video of the leader of the gang, Olamilekan Oriyomi, indicated that they were allegedly contracted to provide security for Oke at the venue of the incident.
He alleged that Oke was mounting pressure on the police to grant the accused administrative bail in a desperate attempt to prevent the truth from emerging in open court.
In the video sighted by The Guardian, the leader of the gang, Olamilekan, who claimed to be a member of Aiye Confraternity and disc jockey (DJ), said they were members of the APC hired to provide security for Wole Oke.
MEANWHILE, Adeleke has approved the reconstitution of the TICC to accommodate prominent former members of the APC who recently defected to the Accord Party in the state ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The development was announced in a statement by the Media and Publicity Committee of the TICC and signed by its Chairman, Bamidele Salam.
According to the statement, the reconstitution is aimed at integrating the new entrants into the campaign structure to enable them play active roles in the party’s electioneering activities.
It stated that those appointed into the apex body of the campaign council include Folorunsho Bamisayemi, Ismaila Kolawole, Dr Tunde Alarape, Tona Famadewa, Sunday Ojo Williams, Ayo Afilaka, Lekan Oyediran, Aleem Bakare, Mutiu Omotayo, Semiu Afolabi and Taiwo Akeju.
The statement added that several other party leaders were assigned to various committees within the campaign council, including Jamiu Olawumi as Director of Strategic Communications and Dr Desmond Ojumu as a member of the medical committee, among others.
The Campaign Council also announced the creation of an election surveillance and voter education committee to strengthen voter mobilisation and election monitoring ahead of the governorship polls.
