A partnership between ProvidusUnity Bank and the D’BusinessDoctor Mentorship Academy is set to expand access to leadership and business education for healthcare professionals, as both organisations unveiled the 2026 Business of Healthcare Programme aimed at developing a new generation of healthcare leaders across Africa.

The initiative seeks to address growing concerns over leadership, management and entrepreneurial capacity within the healthcare sector by providing structured mentorship, practical business education and scholarship opportunities for healthcare professionals, students, entrepreneurs and aspiring leaders.

Under the partnership, 200 participants will receive scholarships valued at N500,000 each to undertake the 12-week programme, which runs from August 1 to October 24. The programme will combine mentorship by industry experts, practical projects, leadership development, networking opportunities and access to advanced degree and MBA scholarship opportunities.

Founder of the D’BusinessDoctor Mentorship Academy, Dr. Ademolu Owoyele, said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to investing in human capital development and equipping healthcare professionals with competencies that extend beyond clinical practice.

According to him, strengthening healthcare systems requires professionals who possess not only technical expertise but also leadership, management and entrepreneurial skills capable of driving institutional growth and innovation.

Owoyele explained that the academy was established to bridge the gap between academic medical training and practical enterprise leadership through mentorship, business education and professional development, noting that the latest programme builds on that objective by removing financial barriers for qualified participants.

The organisers said successful participants would graduate during the H-LEMP Africa Conference scheduled for October 29 in Lagos, where healthcare leaders, policymakers, academics, investors and business executives are expected to examine strategies for strengthening healthcare leadership, entrepreneurship and management across the continent.

They added that the partnership aligns with broader efforts to improve leadership capacity within Africa’s healthcare ecosystem by creating opportunities for professionals to acquire business and management skills needed to build sustainable healthcare institutions.

Beyond technical training, beneficiaries will have access to a network of mentors, professional development opportunities and industry connections intended to prepare them for leadership roles capable of driving innovation, improving healthcare delivery and contributing to long-term socio-economic development.
