An internal rift within the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) deepened on Wednesday as party elders, ward executives, and grassroots members from Eti-Osa Constituency I convened a world press conference to demand the immediate restoration of the party ticket to Noheem Adams.

Addressing journalists and community stakeholders, representatives of the constituency, APC Apex leader Eti-Osa, Taiwo Jegede Jacob, expressed growing frustration over the alleged suppression of the primary election results held on May 20, 2026.

According to the organisers, Adams secured a decisive victory with 7,638 votes compared to his opponent’s 1,225 votes, a margin they argue reflects an unequivocal mandate from the local electorate.

Speaking on behalf of the constituency, party leaders warned that ignoring the primary results risks undermining internal democracy and damaging the APC’s prospects in the upcoming general election.

“Our position is not borne out of hatred, personal ambition, or opposition to any individual,” a spokesperson for the group stated. “Rather, it is borne out of our love for the APC, our commitment to the unity of our party and our determination to ensure victory at the forthcoming election. If our party believes in internal democracy and the supremacy of the will of its members, why should the overwhelming mandate of our members be disregarded?”

The briefing drew high-profile local party figures, including Governance Advisory Council (GAC) and Eti-Osa East Apex Leader, alongside youth, various Christian and Muslim leaders from across the district.

The group framed their appeal directly to national and state party leadership, calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and Lagos State Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi to intervene.

Crucially, stakeholders urged the executive body to enforce the findings of the party’s own Reconciliation Committee, which reportedly advised returning the ticket to Adams to avert a crisis at the polls.

“Reconciliation cannot merely be about asking aggrieved members to accept an outcome that they believe is unjust,” the group noted. “True reconciliation must address the root of the disagreement—the mandate freely expressed at the primary election.”

While maintaining that their loyalty to the APC remains firm, the constituency warned against imposing an unpopular candidate, reiterating five key demands: Formally uphold the results of the May 20, 2026 primary. Re-issue the nomination to Noheem Adams based on the polling margin. Execute the recommendations outlined by the APC Reconciliation Committee. Consult authentic local stakeholders to resolve ongoing friction. Refrain from imposing candidates against the demonstrated preferences of the rank-and-file membership.

Party leadership at the state and national levels has yet to issue a formal response to the constituency’s press conference.
