The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Eniolatravelshub Ltd, Agidi Eniola Oluwasegun has asked governments across the country to make adequate budgetary provisions to the tourism and hospitality sectors, saying it possessed potentials to transform the nation’s economy.

Oluwasegun observed that high operating costs, inadequate infrastructure, inconsistent policies, insecurity and shortage of specialised manpower have continued to challenge the sectors.

Speaking shortly after he was honoured with an award of recognition at the 2026 National Tourism Transportation summit, Oluwasegun, however, stated that the challenges are not insurmountable.

He stated that with adequate planning and funding as well as synergy among players in the sectors, the challenges would be overcome.

The summit brought together leading stakeholders from Nigeria’s tourism, transportation, aviation, hospitality, and both the public and private sectors to discuss sustainable growth, innovation, policy implementation, and strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening the nation’s tourism industry.

One of the major highlights of the event was the recognition of distinguished professionals whose outstanding contributions have continued to shape and advance Nigeria’s travel and tourism sector.

Oluwasegun, who received a Certificate of Recognition and a commemorative plaque in appreciation of his professionalism, dedication, and impactful contributions to the industry, stated that a well managed tourism and hospitality sectors could breach the unemployment gap in the country.

Oluwasegun, who insisted that the players in the sector must collaborate to find common grounds to solve the problems, further stressed that for deliberate provisions to the sectors.

“With stronger government-private sector collaboration, improved infrastructure, policy consistency, investment in human capital and greater adoption of technology, Nigeria can unlock the enormous economic potential of these sectors. What we need is not just recognition of the problems, but deliberate and sustained action to address them,” he said.

An already respected member of the Institute, Oluwasegun, who has continued to distinguish himself as one of the industry’s leading professionals, said the problems of the sectors cannot be treated in isolation.

He stated that there was a need for continuous reforms in the sectors such that could reflect international standards and current technological trends.
