Ahead of 2027 general election, the Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Ebonyi State chapter, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, on Saturday appealed to party faithfuls and leaders to jettison personal political pursuits and embrace peace for the overall interests of the party warning against factionalization of the party.
Chief Emeha stated this at the party Secretariat in Abakaliki when he met with stakeholders and leaders of the party from Onicha Local Government Area of the state insisted that APC remains one united and indivisible family warning that further factionalization may likely affect the party in next year general election.
Chief Emegha emphasised the need for peace and unity among stakeholders and leaders of the party appealing to the leaders to jettison personal political pursuits.
“I’m appealing to the leaders from Onicha Local Government Area to jettison personal political pursuits and embrace peace for the overall interests of the party” Emeha appealed.
“I’m warning against further factionalization of the party in Onicha, APC remains one united and indivisible family and we can not win election if our house is divided so I encourage all of to remain united and strong” Emeha added.
He commended candidates of the party from Onicha LGA for their efforts so far in reaching out to the people urging them to step up their grassroot engagements in order to make things easier for the party.
Speaking also the former Deputy Governor of the state, Prof. Chigozie Ogbu, promised on behalf of Onicha people that all issues among the stakeholders would be amicably resolved as soon as possible.
He assured the party that Onicha LGA would vote massively for all candidates of the party during the elections.
Chairman of Onicha Local Government Area, Hon. Ikechukwu Ogbofia, in his speech appreciated the Chairman for the meeting, disclosing that he had earlier held a similar meeting with Onicha stakeholders where, according to him, they all unanimously agreed to work together in peace and in love.
He assured the Chairman that he would ensure that similar meetings would be stepped down to all the electoral wards of the council before the commencement of campaigns.
Our Correspondent gathered that the meeting was attended by current and former political office holders, community cum opinion leaders from various autonomous communities of Onicha LGA.
The meeting also reviewed challenges and prospects of the party in the council ahead of the 2027 general elections, and recommended strategic interventions aimed at strengthening the structures of the party in the area.
The meeting ended with a resolution calling on all candidates of the party from Onicha Local Government Area to immediately step up their grassroot engagements with the people while the party explore options for further intervention.
