General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has inaugurated a new governing council for the Redeemers College of Technology and Management (RECTEM), located in Redemption City, Ogun State.

Adeboye was represented at the ceremony by the church’s National Overseer, Sunday Akande.

RECTEM is a faith-based polytechnic established, funded and promoted by the Redeemed Christian Church of God as part of its educational initiatives.

The new council will be chaired by a former Rector of Ogun State Institute of Technology, Prof. Olufunke Akinkurolere, and Emmanuel Emefienim as Vice-Chairman, while Olowookere Samuel will serve as Secretary.

Speaking at the event, the Acting Rector of RECTEM, Dr OladunniIzobo-Martins, expressed confidence that the new council would provide the strategic leadership needed to consolidate the progress already recorded by the institution.

Izobo-Martins highlighted the successful accreditation of RECTEM’s programmes by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), as one of the major milestones achieved by the college recently.

She said the institution is currently focused on strengthening its academic programmes, improving infrastructure, enhancing staff capacity, and positioning itself as a leading centre for technical, vocational and management education.

She also acknowledged the contributions of the transition committee that preceded the new council.
Izobo-Martins noted that the committee’s work was critical to ensuring an orderly transition and supporting the development of the institution.

“The inauguration of the council comes at an important time as RECTEM seeks to strengthen its academic programmes, improve infrastructure, enhance staff capacity and position itself as a leading institution for technical, vocational and management education,” she stated.

In her remarks, Akinkurolere appreciated the RCCG leadership for the opportunity to serve and pledged the council members’ commitment to working collaboratively with management and other stakeholders to advance the college’s mandate.

Akinkurolere said the council would prioritise good governance, accountability, academic excellence, staff andinfrastructure development, prudent management of resources, and sustainable institutional growth.

She noted that RECTEM is responsible for producing graduates who are both academically sound and morally upright, in line with the vision of the founding church.

With the accreditation of its programmes by the NBTE already secured, RECTEM is expected to expand its academic offerings and student intake in the coming sessions under the guidance of the new governing council.
