A prominent Northern Youth leader, Alhaji Ibrahim Dan-Musa, has lauded the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, noting that the nation is currently witnessing the tangible impact of a revitalized military force.

Speaking in Lafia following a meeting of the Northern Ethnic Youth Group Assembly, Alhaji Dan-Musa highlighted the military’s recent successes, noting that coordinated operations are successfully preventing attacks and decimating the strongholds of bandits.

“Our soldiers are delivering results. Attacks are being preempted, and bandit strongholds are being systematically dismantled,” Dan-Musa stated.

The youth leader also addressed the importance of peace, calling for sustained coexistence between farmers and herders in Benue and Plateau states. He cautioned that cycles of retaliatory violence only undermine the significant progress made by security forces. He further commended the military and sister agencies for their continued cooperation in securing the region.

Reflecting on the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff, Dan-Musa praised Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s commitment to professionalism, improved operational welfare, and the prompt payment of military allowances. He noted that the COAS’s reputation for discipline has permeated the ranks, leading to a marked improvement in the Army’s overall efficiency.

“Public trust in our military has been restored. Today, the perception of our military has shifted; Nigerians are now eager to celebrate and support our troops whenever they see them. This change in public sentiment is a direct result of the discipline and professional standards championed by the Chief of Army Staff,” Dan-Musa remarked.

Concluding his address, the youth leader urged both traditional media and social media influencers to exercise responsibility in their reporting. He emphasised that national security is a collective duty, warning that portraying the military in an unfairly negative light serves only to weaken the nation.

“No nation thrives by disparaging its own defenders,” he added.
