Registrar of the National Examinations Council (NECO), Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi, has credited the resilience and commitment of the workforce for the exam body’s uninterrupted examinations despite years of Boko Haram insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and sit-at-home orders across the country.
   
Speaking in Minna, Niger State, at the council’s 2025 Annual Staff Productivity Award Ceremony, where outstanding staff, retirees and students were honoured for exceptional performance, Wushishi said the workers’ readiness to work round the clock enabled the examination body to maintain its operations even in difficult security environments.
   
According to him, NECO personnel had continued to move examination materials and logistics as scheduled, regardless of whether operations had to be carried out during the day or at night.
   
The registrar said the annual awards recognised exceptional contributions from staff and stakeholders across the registrar’s office, departments, zonal directorates, 36 state offices, the liaison and LCT offices, as well as state coordinators and drivers.
   
Also speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, Abdullahi Garba, said the awards went beyond the presentation of certificates, describing them as recognition of excellence, hard work, discipline and commitment to improving the examination system.
