Nigeria Legion inaugurates state secretary, area council chairmen

To ensure adequate security in all public primary and secondary schools in the state, the Nigeria Legion, Lagos chapter has inaugurated state secretary and area council chairman in all the local council.

To ensure adequate security in all public primary and secondary schools in the state, the Nigeria Legion, Lagos chapter has inaugurated state secretary and area council chairman in all the local council.

The body is established to cater for the welfare of ex-service men, foster comradeship among ex-service men and to bring about the unity of all those who had served in the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force or any Auxiliary forces.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the state chairman of the Nigeria Legion Lagos State Council, Fola Akande, said the council is inaugurating state secretary and area council chairman in all the 20 Local Council in the state to provide the needed support to run the affairs of the council. The executives are required to run the affairs of the administration for the next four years.

Akande noted, that the inauguration ceremony is possible as a result of Lagos state government interest in the free and fair conduct of the Nigeria Legion election that was conducted in April.

He appealed to executive chairman of all the Local Council and Local Community Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos state to grant Legion Area Council Chairman office accommodation and monthly stipends for up keep.

The chairman urged all elected area council executive to build the Legion in Lagos state into an organization of note. “ Let us join hands to transform the Nigeria Legion, let’s desist from actions that can sabotage the effort of the state council executives. Together we can build a strong state council executives that is capable of achieving the objectives of establishing the Nigeria Legion,” he said.

He advised the elected council chairmen to operate with the with fear of God, take steps in full consciousness that the mandate they have gotten was through God and run a very credible and transparent administration that enhance the fostering of atmosphere of love, brotherhood, camaraderie, friendliness, equity, justice and unity among members.

Akande commended Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode for his unwavering support to the State Chapter of Nigerian Legion, describing Ambode as the friendliest governor and his Administration’s gestures to the council, as being novel and unprecedented in the anal of the country.

“We are grateful to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for employing our trained commissionaires, granting the Legion the sum of N25 million and trailer of rice”, he said.
