The United Nations Group on the Information Society (UNGIS) has appointed Principal Consultant at Kontemporary Konsulting and Chair of the Advisory Council of the Africa ICT Alliance (AfICTA), Dr Jimson Olufuye, as a member of its Multistakeholder Consultation Group (UNGIS-MCG), bringing together representatives from governments, the private sector, civil society, the technical community, academia and international organisations.
Building on the outcomes of the WSIS+20 Review and its emphasis on strengthening multi-stakeholder dialogue and cooperation, the UNGIS-MCG will serve as an advisory and consultative platform to facilitate regular information sharing on UNGIS priorities and gather perspectives and feedback from diverse stakeholder communities.
The UNGIS-MCG builds on the outcomes of the WSIS+20 Review, including UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/80/173, as well as stakeholder inputs through the 29th yearly session of the CSTD, the annual WSIS Forum and UNGIS-related events, with a view to fostering inclusive multistakeholder dialogue.
Through the UNGIS-MCG, UNGIS seeks to facilitate consultation and engagement with stakeholder communities — governments, the private sector, civil society, the technical community, academia and international organisations.
