Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwolu, has appointed Faidat Shomade, as the General Manager (GM) of the Lagos State Urban Renewal Authority (LASURA).

Shomade, described as the unseen Town Planner of the modern Lagos by her colleagues, before her appointment, served the Lagos State Government for 35 years, retiring in 2018 as the General Manager Property and Land Management at the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC).

She was primarily responsible for preparing and implementing the layouts of all the housing estates in Lagos built between 1983 and 2018. Some of those estates include; Dolphin Estate; Ijaiye Housing Estate phases 1-4; Femi Okunnu Estate phases 1-4, among many others.

At a time in Lagos when LSDPC lands were illegally occupied by private individuals, many of which were on the verge of becoming slums; Shomade led a team to ensure qualified occupiers received titles for their property. Her efforts and those of her colleagues helped to considerably shore up the revenue of the Lagos State Government.

Shomade holds a Masters of Business Administration degree in Management Marketing from the Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho and a Higher National Diploma in Town and Regional Planning from the Lagos State Polytechnic.
In her over three decades of service, she had acquired rare skills and capabilities in leadership, urban planning, and land and property management.
