The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Katsina State chapter, under the stewardship of Prof. Bashir Abu Sabe, convened its monthly meeting on Sunday, July 19, 2026, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing literary excellence and strengthening the community of writers in the state.
One of the meeting’s major highlights was a report on the Copyright Workshop held in Kano on June 1 to 2, 2026. Presenting the report, the chapter’s representatives, Dr. Zaharadden Bello and Dr. AbdulrahmanAliyu, shared valuable insights on copyright protection, the operations of REPRONIG, the registration process, and the opportunities available to authors whose creative works are properly protected. Members were reminded that safeguarding intellectual property remains essential to sustaining the dignity and value of literary creativity.
The chapter also reviewed issues relating to the renewal of ANA membership and the issuance of membership certificates, emphasising that these are prerequisites for authors wishing to register with REPRONIG and benefit from its services.
As anticipation builds for the 2026 ANA National Convention, scheduled for October in Abuja, members resolved that 25 July 2026 would be the deadline for indicating interest in joining the Katsina State delegation and confirming travel arrangements.
Looking beyond the convention, the meeting reflected on future of the chapter, discussing preparations for the emergence of a new leadership while reaffirming its resolve to sustain a vibrant literary culture.
