Soyinka, Osofisan, others set for Clark’s memorial celebrations

Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, Prof Femi Osofisan, and other distinguished Nigerians would be guests at the first JP Clark Memorial celebrations.

According to a statement by the Clark family, the three-day event is in conjunction with the Departments of English, University of Lagos and Ibadan.

The event starts October 11 and ends October 13, 2021.

The first day of the event, which will be moderated by Prof Femi Osofisan and Prof. Hope Eghagha, has Prof. Wole Soyinka as one of the speakers. Prof. Of Oral Literature and Folklore, Godwin Darah, will discuss JP Clark: Voyager of Our Folkways; Prof. Tanure Ojaide will talk about What we don’t know yet about J.P. Clark’s writing, Associate Professor, University of Alberta, Nduka Otiono would discuss J.P Clark and Poetic Expeditions in Mortality, while Prof. Mabel Evwierhoma of the University of Abuja is set to interrogate J.P. Clark: Towards An Agenda for Femocracy.

The second day, which will also be held virtually, is dedicated to a Cancer Outreach Programme and another event, titled, Celebrating the Lives and Times of JP Clark organised by the Association of Nigerian Authors.

On the third day, a play, titled, The Wives Revolt, by JP Clark would be performed both virtually and live.
