Murtala Adewale is a seasoned journalist with over 10 years of field reporting in Kano for The Guardian He's known for in-depth reporting and has a strong interest in politics and governance, security, the judiciary, business, and community development. Adewale has covered major political events, including the 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023 general elections, as well as election petition tribunals in Kano. A frontline reporter, Adewale reports on emergency and crisis-ridden situations, including the deadly global pandemic (COVID-19), the Boko Haram insurgency, and the recent bandit incursions in Shanono, Tsanyawa, Bagwai, and Gwarzo Local Government Areas of the state. He is an alumnus of Bayero University, Kano, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Public Relations in 2012 and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication in 2010. Adewale is also a proud graduate of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, where he earned both HND and ND in Mass Communication. He is a member of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), and member Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Kano State Chapter.
