This April, CT Productions brings The World Ahead 2026: Nigeria to Lagos, marking the fifth consecutive year the publication has been produced locally under exclusive licence from The Economist. Across successive editions, the launch event has become a strategic annual gathering of senior decision-makers, business leaders, and investors engaging with West Africa’s trajectory.

Since its first publication in 1987, The World Ahead has built a reputation for clear-sighted analysis of the political, economic, cultural, and technological trends set to define the coming year. The 2026 edition comes at a time of global recalibration. Geopolitical alliances are shifting, economic growth remains uneven, artificial intelligence is recasting productivity, and governments face increasing pressure to align climate goals with social outcomes.

For Nigeria and West Africa, these forces intersect with domestic priorities. Changes in global trade routes, technological disruption, and renewed interest in African markets are reshaping how capital moves, how policy is set, and how firms compete. While produced under a Nigerian licence, The World Ahead: Nigeria’s editorial and convening reach extends beyond national borders, engaging contributors and audiences as far as Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Angola. To date, the event has welcomed more than 850 invited guests and supported the distribution of over 4,000 copies of the publication throughout West Africa. This scale has helped form CT Productions’ flagship launch into a future-facing reference point, bringing global issues into sharp local focus.

Research forms the next phase of that work. This year’s event will also formally introduce FOCUS Insights, CT Productions’ new initiative. Developed in collaboration with Elite Media — a UK- and Dubai-based firm whose team includes alumni of The Economist Group and the Economist Intelligence Unit — the work builds on the eight-year editorial legacy of CT Productions’ in-house FOCUS Magazine. As a platform for commissioned, cross-sector briefing, FOCUS Insights equips decision-makers with credible context and evidence.

It draws on core themes from The World Ahead 2026, examining how shifts in capital, technology, resources, and energy are influencing West Africa’s competitive position over the coming decade. The research will shape conversation at The World Ahead 2026: Nigeria, as well as CT Productions’ flagship events, sector-specific roundtables, and moderated panels.
