Jumia offers entrepreneurs N1m in new startup initiative

Electronic Commerce platform, Jumia Nigeria has announced the launch of an entrepreneurship competition and a “Super Startup campaign” from yesterday until September 30th targeted at all entrepreneurs to have an unparalleled opportunity to grow their business.

Electronic Commerce platform, Jumia Nigeria has announced the launch of an entrepreneurship competition and a “Super Startup campaign” from yesterday until September 30th targeted at all entrepreneurs to have an unparalleled opportunity to grow their business.

Targeting start-ups and new businesses, the nationwide competition challenges and encourages entrepreneurs who are developing a unique digital application, smart solution or much needed service that helps to solve tangible consumer or business problems Nigeria.

Jumia Super Startup week kicks off with live online tech talks at Jumia.com.ng/super-startup. Speakers include: Shola Akinlade, CEO of Paystack who will be speaking on Starting a business in Nigeria- The Story of Paystack; Yemi Bademosi, founder of Microtraction will be discussing Getting Funding For Your Start-up on September 20th and Maya Horgan-Famodu, founder of Ingressive will be speaking on The Nigerian Start-up Ecosystem on Friday.

During the second week of the campaign, Sacha Poignonnec, Co-CEO of Jumia Group will be speaking about The Jumia Story: From Startup to Hypergrowth, on September 25th. Bili Sule, VP of Growth Marketing, Jumia Nigeria will share insights on how business savvy Nigerians can make money by leveraging Jumia’s Entrepreneur Empowerment Program on September 27th.

Entrepreneurs with great ideas or new businesses can pitch their ideas via social media for a chance to secure the N1 million in business funding. To enter, interested contestants are to simply post a 60 second video explaining your business on social media with the hashtags #JumiaSuperStartup and #GrowYourHustle.
