The Daniel Ogechi Akujobi Memorial Foundation (DOAM Foundation) took its scholarship beneficiaries on an educational excursion to Sacvin Nigeria’s production plant in Mowe, Ogun State, as part of its 2026 Vacation Counseling Program.
The excursion, held on Friday, September 11, 2026, was designed to provide beneficiaries with practical exposure to a real-life industrial environment and complement the knowledge they acquire within the classroom.
DOAM Foundation recognises that education extends beyond academic instruction. The Foundation therefore incorporates mentorship, counseling, career exposure, and experiential learning into its support for scholarship beneficiaries.
During the visit, the beneficiaries were introduced to various aspects of Sacvin’s plastic manufacturing operations. They had the opportunity to observe how plastic products are produced and gain firsthand insight into the processes, skills, technology, and teamwork involved in running a manufacturing facility.
The excursion also provided an opportunity for the beneficiaries to interact with professionals and broaden their understanding of career possibilities within the manufacturing and industrial sectors. For the older beneficiaries and DOAM Foundation alumni who recently completed secondary education, the experience offered valuable exposure as they consider future areas of study and career development.
Catherine Olukotun, the Program Manager of the DOAM Foundation stated that career choice is very important for children and youths, especially those coming from a background that is not very privileged and determined to break the cycle of poverty.
She further disclosed that the event is a broader effort to tackle not only the educational needs of its beneficiaries but also their emotional, behavioural, social, and career-development needs.
Through its vacation counseling initiatives, the Foundation seeks to equip young people with practical knowledge, confidence, and broader perspectives that can positively influence their personal and professional journeys.
The Foundation acknowledges Sacvin Nigeria Limited for welcoming the beneficiaries and providing them with this valuable learning experience.
The Foundation also remains committed to improving Nigerian’s quality of life by creating opportunities that empower children and young people to learn, grow, dream, and build a better future.
The DOAM Foundation is a charitable, humanitarian, and not-for-profit organization committed to improving the lives of less-privileged children and youths in Nigeria through interventions in education, healthcare, mentorship, and community development.
Through its scholarship programmes, health outreaches, mentorship and counseling initiatives, and other community interventions, the foundation continues to make a lasting difference, so far in the lives of over 98,000 lives including children, youths, and aged across Nigeria.
