The Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Imo State has emerged champions, sweeping the three top prizes at the maiden edition of the Skill up Imo Contest, held at the weekend in Owerri.

The state-wide competition saw participants producing compelling video documentaries highlighting five key achievements of the Executive Governor of Imo State.

Entries were rigorously evaluated on technical criteria, including video editing finesse, production quality, and viral audience engagement, measured by social media likes, comments, and shares.

When the dust settled, Federal Polytechnic Nekede’s training centre emerged as the undisputed powerhouse of the tournament, capturing all three top spots on the podium.

Dorcas Paul took the first position, which earned her N150,000; Kelvin Joseph placed second and received N100,000, while Ubi Augusta placed third and got N50,000.

The victory of the students at the event held at the Imo Digital City Limited (IDCL) is attributed to the technical excellence and digital ingenuity of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede.

The institution’s dominant performance underscores its growing reputation as a hub for cutting-edge ICT training and practical skills acquisition.

Speaking on the triumph, the Rector of the School, Dr Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe, attributed it to the ongoing institutional support for digital literacy and youth development.

Igbokwe’s administration has consistently prioritised ICT-driven initiatives and fostered an environment tailored for innovation.

Working through the Directorate of ICT, the Rector’s strategic vision has continued to equip students with market-relevant skills capable of competing at the highest levels.
