Rector emphasises discipline, skills at matriculation

Oladunni Izobo-Martins

The Rector of Redeemer’s College of Technology and Management (RECTEM), Dr Oladunni Izobo-Martins, has charged the newly admitted students of the institution to embrace discipline, practical competence, and industry-focused training.

Speaking at the 8th matriculation ceremony of the college, Izobo-Martins said the event formally admits the students into schools of Engineering Technology, Environmental Design Technology, Science and Technology, as well as Management Studies for the 2025/2026 academic session in line with the regulations of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

The rector reminded that polytechnic education is practical, skills-driven, and emphasises the integration of theory and hands-on training.

While warning students against misconduct, Izobo-Martins said that vices such as examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, and vandalism would attract sanctions.

She urged the students to manage their time wisely, attend lectures, participate actively in practical sessions, and utilise workshops, laboratories, and other facilities effectively.

She also encouraged them to take advantage of the school’s partnership with New Horizons, a new tech company, for ICT certification to enhance their employability.

Addressing parents and guardians, Izobo-Martins thanked them for trusting RECTEM with the education of their wards, assuring that management remains committed to providing a safe, regulated, and conducive learning environment.

She reaffirmed the institution’s resolve to strengthen academic delivery, sustain NBTE compliance, and reposition the college for excellence, relevance, and impact.
