Aviation ministry responds to lawyers enquiry, discloses cost of Enugu airport contract

Following the freedom of information request by a Lagos-based lawyer, Osita Enwe, on the emergency rehabilitation of Enugu International Airport Runway, Aviation Ministry recently disclosed that the contract was awarded to Messrs. PW Nigeria Limited in the sum of N8.5 billion.

In a letter signed by the Legal Adviser to the Minister, S. Liman, in response to legal practitioners’ request for details of contract specifications for works at the airport, he stated that 15 per cent mobilization fee has been paid to the contractor and that work was ongoing at the site of the project.

The letter also read in part that the project was expected to be delivered to the federal government on February 28, 2020.

“The contract was awarded to Messrs. PW Nigeria Limited in the sum of N8.5 billion and 15 percent mobilization fee has been paid to the contractor and work is presently ongoing at the site of the project. The project is expected to be delivered to the federal government on 28 February, 2020”, the letter read.
