Lagoon wins Best Hospital in Nigeria 2016 Award
Lagoon Hospitals has been named winner in the category of Best International Hospital Award in Nigeria for the year 2016 by the International Healthcare Commission (IHC) – the Gold Standard of international healthcare ratings.
IHC’s ratings are evidence-based and provide best-practice hospitals and ratings information to insurance companies, healthcare investors, government organizations and third party administrators and reviews data from private hospitals throughout the world to identify the best international healthcare providers.
IHC ratings guide patients and referring physicians to better care providers. The commission rates hospitals using 20 Key Result Areas (KRA) and point scoring method (with range of zero-to-five points). The hospital with highest overall score is subsequently selected as the Best International Hospital for their respective country (only one award per country per year). The ratings criteria was developed with input from patients, doctors, hospital CEOs, insurance companies and medical tourism professionals. Some KRAs include, range of clinical specialisation, medical technology and equipment, international quality accreditation, patient’s bill of rights to name a few.
IHC’s performance ratings are designed to identify world-class healthcare providers and to enhance physician referrals to best-practice organizations and as the leading international hospital ratings organization.
It will be recalled that Lagoon hospitals have been pioneers in providing quality healthcare that match international standards and have accomplished first-time feats in the field of healthcare such as being the first private hospital to successfully perform an open-heart surgery in 2014, successful metallic replacement of whole arm bone in 2013 and also the first and only hospital in sub-Saharan Africa to receive accreditation by the Joint Commission International (JCI) gold seal of approval in 2011 and re-accreditation in 2016.
