The National president of Nigeria School Sports Federation (NSSF) Olabisi Joseph has identified inter-house school sports competition as an avenue to discover hidden talent.

Speaking at the 9th inter house sport competition of Mind Builders School, held at Agege Stadium, the NSSF boss who was represented by the south west chairman, Rotimi Okeleye, said it is important to discover talents deposited in school children and develop them to stardom.

According to her, education and sports are conceptually inseparable and are vital ingredients for national development.

“The development of sport and education have created a lot of positive changes and made the young ones to unfold early in life,” Okeleye said.

She added that the combination of sports and education would make children grow to become better individuals and responsible future leaders.

She said: “NSSF is always full of excitement to support children with sound mind and capable of sustaining excellent academic records with extra-curricula activities to raise learners of our dream.”

The school’s Director of Education, Mrs. Bola Falore, lamented that many do not recognise the importance of sports, reminding that co- curricula activities teach learners important life lessons.

Falore noted that sports teach discipline, dedication, hardwork, commitment and teamwork.

“Children who participate in sports display self confidence, have healthy social life, better stress management and mental well being.”

She subsequently urged school children to always participate in sports as its fundamental to the holistic development of the child.

She applauded the support received from parents and the management of the school in making the competition a memorable one.
