Lagos sets up committee on alleged land grabbing
Following the protest by the residents of some communities in Ayobo area of Lagos State against the activities of land grabbers, the state government has set up committee to investigate the allegations.
The State government through the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN) made the disclosure.
The AG stated that government attention has been drawn to the peaceful demonstration recently staged by residents of some communities in Ayobo area of Lagos State, protesting against activities of land grabbers allegedly terrorizing their communities.
He reiterated that the Lagos State Government through the Special Task Force on Land Grabbers is committed to reducing to the barest minimum the activities of persons who use force and intimidation to dispossess or prevent any person or entity from acquiring legitimate interest and possession of property acquired.
He said: “We received with serious concern, the land grabbing reports leveled against certain persons in Ayobo area and we have since commenced investigation into the allegations.
“We would like to assure affected residents of the area that the Lagos State Property Protection law of 2015 would take its full course in this regard.”
