The Lagos State House of Assembly has commissioned a newly built ultra modern mosque in Alausa.

Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, who officially commissioned the mosque, urged the users to make use of it for spiritual development and learning more about Islam.

Ambode, who was represented by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Abdulateef Abdulhakeem said: “The house of God is meant to develop us and enrich us with the knowledge of God. I give glory to God Almighty who gave us the opportunity to witness the commissioning and may we make use of it judiciously to earn the reward of Allah”.

The commissioning, which coincides with the yearly Hijrah celebration had several prominent personalities in attendance including Oba of Lagos, Oba Riliwan Akiolu, Speaker Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, and Hon. Sikiru Adebayo Oshinowo.

Speaking at the event, the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashir Obasa, said the Hijrah celebration is an avenue to interact and listen to words of wisdom from the Holy Quran through the valued interpretations from revered Islamic scholars.

“To the glory of Almighty Allah, we are here for our annual Hijrah celebration where we interact among ourselves and discuss on issues affecting our existence as Muslims.

“The 2019 General Elections are here with the attendant tensions and apprehension. For us Muslims, we have nowhere and nobody to run to for solace, succour, protection and guidance except Almighty Allah. Therefore, we are also here to offer special supplication to Almighty Allah for His guidance and protection as we move towards 2019 and subsequent years,” he said.

He added that the theme of this year’s celebration is apt: “The place of mosque in modern Islamic World”, informs the essence of the newly constructed mosque.

He said: “I am filled with joy and happiness for the completion of this great edifice. This is the effort of the entire congregation of this mosque who together, contributed their widow’s mite to ensure that this project sees the light of the day. I thank and congratulate all those involve in the project and I pray that Almighty Allah build houses for us all in Paradise”.

He urged the user of the mosque to sustain the purpose of the mosque, which is to worship Allah. And ensure that the Mosque is always clean and avoid doing anything contrary to the will of Allah.
